U.S. Government Shutdown Likely, FMCSA Unimpacted

The U.S. Congress has been unable to resolve their differences on federal spending limits for fiscal 2024. If an agreement is not reached by the end of Sept. 30, the government will shut down due to a lapse in appropriations on Oct. 1.

CVSA submitted comments about CVSA’s Enhanced Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Inspection Program for the record of the Sept. 13 U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s Subcommittee on Highways and Transit’s hearing on “The Future of Automated Commercial Motor Vehicles: Impacts on Society, the Supply Chain and U.S. Economic Leadership.”

U.S. Senators Introduce Bill to Increase Truck Parking

On March 29, U.S. Senators Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) and Mark Kelly (D-AZ) introduced S. 1034, the Truck Parking Safety Improvement Act, which creates a short-term authorization of funds to increase truck parking capacity and to improve existing truck parking infrastructure.
