Hey, That’s My Stuff: Search and Seizure in CMVs

CVSA and guest presenters from the National District Attorneys Association’s National Traffic Law Center will present an overview of search and seizure and search and seizure rules for CMV and commercial driver’s license holders. The webinar will clarify the distinctions of search and seizure of a CMV versus a non-CMV. Attendees will learn the criteria used by courts to determine the validity of a warrantless inspection of a CMV and the constraints placed upon law enforcement under these criteria.

On March 4 and April 10, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration published final rules updating the Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR). This webinar will go over the changes to regulations that affect roadside inspections. Some of the affected areas include updates to IME SLP-22 and IME SLP-23; the adoption of new reduced-size combustible placards on intermediate bulk containers and portable tanks; updated regulations for lithium batteries; and updates to several compressed gas association standards.
