North American Fatigue Management Program Train the Trainer Course

This course is for motor carrier instructors who conduct or expect to conduct fatigue management training for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers and their families.

This one-day NAFMP course will cover NAFMP Module 5 (Train the Trainer) and additional updated content. This course will include instruction, presentations, quizzes, individually assigned presentations, prior NAFMP coursework and a post-exam. Prior to attending this training, you must complete Module 1 (Introduction and Overview) and complete Modules 3 (Driver Education), 4 (Driver Family Education) and 8 (Driver Sleep Disorders Management) with an 80% or higher exam score on the NAFMP eLearning Platform.

You may register for this course now and then complete the prerequired NAFMP modules before the registration deadline. If you do not complete the prerequisites by the deadline, your registration will be transferred to waiting list registrants who have completed the prerequisites.

This course WILL NOT cover the NAFMP Modules 2 (Safety Culture and Management Practices), 6 (Shippers and Receivers), 7 (Motor Carrier Sleep Disorders Management), 9 (Driver Scheduling and tools) or 10 (Fatigue Monitoring and Management Technologies).

This NAFMP course is made possible with the support from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and Transport Canada.

Course Information

Target Audience

The target audience is motor carrier instructors from CVSA industry members and non-members; specifically, fatigue management instructors who train or expect to train CMV drivers and their families.

Class Size

This virtual course is limited to 20 students.

Prerequisites

Completion of Module 1 (Introduction and Overview) and completion of Modules 3 (Driver Education), 4 (Driver Family Education) and 8 (Driver Sleep Disorders Management) with an 80% or higher exam score on the NAFMP eLearning Platform.
You may register for this course now and then complete the prerequired NAFMP modules before the registration deadline. If you do not complete the prerequisites by the deadline, your registration will be transferred to waiting list registrants who have completed the prerequisites.
Knowledge of CMV driving, personal experience driving a CMV and previous experience training CMV drivers.
Ability to model appropriate fatigue management behaviors, ability to relate well with other drivers and their families, and enthusiasm for CMV driver fatigue management.

What to Expect

This virtual course will include instructor-led training, a session to complete presentations on assigned topics and individual quizzes/exam.
All training materials will be provided electronically.
Students will be given a post-exam. A score of at least 80% on the post-exam is required to pass the course and receive a certificate of completion. A participant who scores lower than 80% or chooses not to take the final exam will receive a certificate of attendance.

Course Schedule

This virtual course will be delivered on Wednesday, May 29, from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. EDT.

Training Delivery

To take this course, you will need access to Zoom and the NAFMP eLearning platform.
You will be sent a Zoom link prior to the start of the training course. You will receive instruction, view and conduct presentations in Zoom.
You will need to establish a user account in the NAFMP eLearning platform and complete the prerequired coursework before taking this course.
All students are required to have their video turned on during the entire course, except during breaks. NO OTHER EXCEPTIONS.

There is no registration fee for this NAFMP course; however, registration is required.

Virtual Events Code of Conduct

Unauthorized sharing of login credentials with another user, including unregistered users; any unregistered user found participating will be required to pay the full registration fee, including the late registration fee
Recording, copying and/or sharing of any media, including screenshots
Engaging in unsafe practices while participating in a virtual event, such as driving a car
Harassment, disrespect, intimidation or discrimination in any form
Verbal or written abuse of any participant, including, but not limited to, comments related to race, color, ethnicity, age, religion, national origin, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, etc.
Sharing inappropriate, nude and/or sexual images
Threatening or stalking a participant

To report an incident of unacceptable behavior, please contact CVSA Executive Director Collin Mooney or CVSA Deputy Executive Director Adrienne Gildea. CVSA reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the meeting without warning or refund, in response to any incident of unacceptable behavior. CVSA may also, at its discretion, prohibit attendance at any future meeting, virtually or in person.

Consent to Multimedia Use

Registration and attendance at and participation in CVSA meetings and other activities – in-person or virtually – constitutes an agreement by the registrant to CVSA’s use and distribution of the registrant’s or attendee’s image or voice in photographs, videotapes, electronic reproductions, and audiotapes of such events and activities.
