PHMSA Announces Meeting on Hazardous Materials Registration and Fee Assessment Program
On May 26, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA)  a public meeting on the hazardous materials registration and fee assessment program, hosted by PHMSA’s Office of Hazardous Materials Safety. The meeting will take place on June 28.

PHMSA Publishes Updates on Special Permits
Also on May 26, PHMSA published updates on special permit applications:

FMCSA Requests Comment on the “Study of Commercial Motor Vehicle Crash Causation” ICR
On May 25, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)  comments on its Information Collection Request (ICR) for the “Study of Commercial Motor Vehicle Crash Causation.” FMCSA will collect information on existing crash data collection processes, systems and resources and commercial motor vehicle enforcement funding mechanisms and sources. Comments are due by June 26.

PHMSA Requests Comments on Hazardous Materials Transportation OMB Control Numbers
On May 22, PHMSA  comments on six Office of Management and Budget (OMB) control numbers pertaining to hazardous materials transportation. Comments are due by July 21.

FMCSA Announces Upcoming MCSAC Meeting
On May 18, FMCSA  a meeting of the Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee (MCSAC). The meeting will take place virtually on June 6-7.

Update on Exemptions

Transport Canada Exemptions Added to CVSA Exemption Tracker
Transport Canada  have been added to the exemption tracker and contains the following exemptions on:

  • Driveaway Operations
  • Canadian Association of Energy Contractors
  • Canadian Pacific Railway
  • Fertilizer Canada

CVSA Active Exemption Tracker
CVSA maintains a  issued by FMCSA. The exemption tracker can be found at www.cvsa.org under the “Inspections” tab at the top of the page.
