FMCSA Publishes ICR on Opinions of ADS
On April 23, 2021, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published a notice and request for comments on an information collection request (ICR) that seeks to gain an understanding of opinions on automated driving systems (ADS). The ICR will collect baseline opinions of ADS before and after hands-on demonstrations with the technology. Comments are due by May 24.

FMCSA Publishes SNPRM to Extend the Compliance Date for Medical Examiner’s Certification Integration
On April 22, 2021, FMCSA published a supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking (SNPRM) proposing to extend several provisions related to the electronic transmission of the medical examiner’s certification. The proposed extension is to allow FMCSA to complete the necessary information technology system development tasks to implement the requirement. The proposed new compliance date is June 23, 2025. Comments are due by May 24.
