With just a few weeks left in the 115th Congress, much attention is on passing several funding bills that are set to expire on Dec. 7. Included in those is the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development appropriations bill. It is unclear if another continuing resolution, providing temporary funding, or a full appropriations bill for fiscal 2019 will be passed by the deadline.
As CVSA staff meets with legislative offices, conversations continue on the needs of enforcement. Hours of service, automated driving systems, electronic logging devices, the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program and commercial driver’s license age requirements are common topics of interest on Capitol Hill.
