House & Senate Nearing Agreement on Funding
Reports indicate that Senator Murray (D-WA) and Congressman Ryan (R-WI) are nearing an agreement on a proposal that would set spending levels for the next two years. Ryan and Murray, who chair the Budget Committees in their respective chambers, have been tasked with negotiating a compromise to set spending levels and avert the next round of ‘across the board’ spending cuts. They set a deadline of December 13th to strike a deal, which is the date Speaker Boehner has said he will adjourn the House for the Christmas holiday. Details of the possible agreement have not yet been circulated. If the two chambers can come to agreement, it will provide the States with a higher degree of predictability for funding levels for the next two years.
