On June 10, 2021, the House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) approved the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act. The INVEST in America Act is a five-year authorization bill for surface transportation programs, including MCSAP, and includes a number of provisions impacting commercial motor vehicle safety. It is anticipated that the full House will vote on the bill in the coming months. If the bill is passed by the full House, it will then need to be reconciled with the Senate’s proposal, once it is finalized.
