On June 18, 2020, the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) approved the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act. The INVEST in America Act is a five-year authorization bill for surface transportation programs, including MCSAP, and includes a number of provisions impacting commercial motor vehicle safety. It is anticipated that the full U.S. House will vote on the bill on June 30 as part of a larger infrastructure package. If the bill is passed by the full U.S. House, it will then need to be reconciled with the U.S. Senate’s proposal, once it is finalized.
