On June 3, 2020, the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) released the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation in America (INVEST in America) Act. The INVEST in America Act is a five-year authorization bill for surface transportation programs, including the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP), and includes a number of provisions impacting commercial motor vehicle safety. The bill is scheduled for markup on June 17. If the bill is passed by the T&I Committee, it would then need to be passed by the full U.S. House and reconciled with the U.S. Senate’s proposal, once it is finalized.
