Update on Relevant U.S. Regulations

FMCSA Publishes Technical Correction Final Rule
On May 17, 2018, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) published a final rule making a number of technical corrections to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. According to the notice, the rule makes minor changes to correct errors and omissions, remove or update obsolete references, ensure conformity with Office of the Federal Register style guidelines and improve the clarity and consistency of certain regulatory provisions. The rule is effective June 18, 2018.

NTSB Announces Meeting to Discuss School Bus Crashes
On May 16, 2018, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) published a notice announcing a meeting on May 22, 2018, at the NTSB Conference Center in Washington, DC. The meeting will focus on Highway Special Investigation Report—Selective Issues in School Bus Transportation Safety: Crashes in Baltimore, Maryland, and Chattanooga, Tennessee.

FMCSA Announces Household Goods ICR
Also on May 16, 2018, FMCSA published a notice announcing the agency’s plan to submit an information collection request (ICR) to the Office of Management and Budget titled “Endorsement for Household Goods Motor Carrier Policies of Insurance for Cargo Liability Under 49 U.S.C. 13906.” Comments are due by July 16, 2018.
