Senate Begins Consideration of Highway Bill Reauthorization

On July 10, 2019, Senator John Barraso (R-WY), Chair of the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works (EPW), announced that the committee plans to mark-up a long-term highway bill reauthorization on Aug. 1. This mark-up will begin official considerations of a highway bill reauthorization. However, the majority of commercial motor vehicle (CMV)-related safety issues do not fall under EPW’s jurisdiction and would not be included in this initial version of the bill.
