Congress Moves Forward on FY2017 Appropriations Bill

On Sept. 28, 2016, Congress passed the 10 week Continuing Resolution (CR) allowing government programs to continue operations at current funding levels through Dec. 9, 2016. President Obama is expected to sign the spending bill before the end of fiscal year 2016 at midnight on Sept. 30, 2016. The House and Senate are now in recess and no more votes or other legislative action is expected by Congress until Nov. 15 when both Chambers return to Washington for the lame-duck session after the elections.
