Operation Safe Driver
CVSA, in partnership with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), state, provincial and local law enforcement and industry launched the campaign in 2007 to combat the number of deaths resulting from crashes involving large trucks, buses and passenger vehicles.
Operation Safe Driver will hold activities across the United States, Canada and Mexico that aim to increase commercial vehicle and non-commercial vehicle traffic enforcement; safety belt enforcement; driver roadside inspections; driver regulatory compliance; implementation of commercial driver educational and awareness programs to the motor carrier population; and, awareness to the motoring public about safe operations around commercial motor vehicles.
There are 9.4 million kids between the ages of 16-24 driving on the highways. They make up only 4.7% of the total number of licensed drivers, but are involved in 10.1% of fatal accidents and in 13.5% of all accidents. 
Safe operation of commercial and passenger vehicles can occur in a world saturated by cell phones and other communications and electronic devices, but only through competent, constant management of these devices and the distractions they create.
