Transportation Security Committee
Purpose
Enhance the security of our homeland by providing a forum to identify, develop, implement, and evaluate education, enforcement and information sharing strategies for enhancing commercial motor vehicle security.
Goals
- Collaborate with other CVSA committees on issues related to Commercial Motor Vehicle security, with special attention to hazardous materials and training needs.
- Collaborate with industry partners to develop and implement CMV security initiatives such as Highway Watch.
- Collaborate with federal partners (FMCSA, TSA) on issues related to CMV security.
- Identify CMV security vulnerabilities and related countermeasures and communicate the information to the membership.
- Evaluate federal law, regulations, and programs related to CMV security, provide feedback to the federal agencies as appropriate, and provide implementation guidance to the membership as needed.
- In conjunction with CVSA staff, serve as a clearinghouse and point-of-dissemination to the membership of intelligence information received from the Highway Watch ISAC.
- Serve as a clearinghouse and dissemination point to the membership on CMV security best practices and emerging technologies.
